詩篇 73篇 21～24節
21) 私の心が苦みに満ち
私の内なる思いが突き刺されたとき
22) 私は愚かで考えもなく
あなたの前で獣のようでした。
23) しかし 私は絶えずあなたとともにいました。
あなたは私の右の手をしっかりとつかんでくださいました。
24) あなたは 私を諭して導き
後には栄光のうちに受け入れてくださいます。
ディボーショナル
クリスチャンの歩みとは、神様との個人的な関係です。知識でも、行いでもありません。親子関係で考えてみましょう。親と子の関係は、子どもがどれほど親の教えを知っているか、また、どれほど親の教えを守っているかには関係ありません。お利口な子も、そうでない子も、親孝行な子も、そうでない子も、誰でも親から等しく愛される子どもです。同じように、聖書の知識があってもなくても、良い行いをしていてもしていなくても、神様を信じる者は、誰でも神様から等しく愛されている子どもなのです。
しかし、私たちは誰でも神様との親子関係を深めることができます。関係を深めるというのは、私たちが親である神様からどれほど愛されているのかを悟るようになる、ということです。これは、個人的な体験です。そして、この体験は生涯、深め続けることができます。
一方、私たちは知るべきことがあります。それは、私たちが神様と時間を過ごさない限り、神様のことが分からないことです。個人的に神様と向き合わない限り、神様の愛を知ることはできないのです。これは、人間同士の関係と同じです。他のことを考えていたり、聞き流したり、背を向けているうちは、どうしても関係を深めることができないのです。
私たちが、神様と向き合う時、最初に自分の愚かさと無力さに気づきます（21, 22節）。同時に、そんな自分に愛想が尽きることなく、今も神様が一緒にいて下さっていること（現在）に気づきます。さらに、自分の無力さに気づかなかった間も、一緒にいて下さったこと（過去）にも気づきます（23節）。だからこそ、これからも一緒にいて下さること（未来）にも気づきます（24節）。神様との関係は、過去、現在、未来と永遠に続きます。
これが、神様と向き合った時に、詩編73篇の作者が気づいたことでした。私たちは、神様が共にいることに気づくために、毎日、ディボーションをしているのです。義務感からではなく、期待からです。日々のディボーションを通して、さらに自分の無力さと神の愛の大きさの違いが浮き彫りになり、ただただ感動を覚えるようになります。そして、さらに神様に頼るようになり、さらに神様の力を経験するようになります。
30年も前の曲ですが、日本のクリスチャンアーティスト、Lyre（リラ）による「詩編73篇21ー24」という賛美があります。歌詞は今日の聖書箇所そのままです。個人的には、信仰を持った頃に初めて聞きました。信仰を持った翌年には、「詩編73篇」というテーマの中高生バイブルキャンプでカウンセラーとして奉仕したり、そこで奉仕をしていた妻とも初めて出会ったりと、思い出深い曲です。それ以来、この詩編の作者のように、今でさえ、いつも神様が一緒にいて下さることに感動する毎日です。私たちは誰であっても、知識や行いがあってもなくても、神様の愛を知り続ける歩みに、今日も招かれているのです。
問いかけ
日々のディボーションをただ行うだけではなく、神様が共にいることに気づくために、具体的にどんな工夫ができるでしょう？
祈り
神様、あなたは私の心の痛みも、無力さも、愚かさも全てご存知です。しかし、私があなたに気づく前から、あなたは私と共にいて、導いてきて下さいました。これまで、あなたの愛に関心がなかった愚かさをお赦し下さい。自分の力と考えだけに頼って歩んだ結果、不要な痛みや苦しみを経験した愚かさを憐れんでください。どうぞ今、共にいてください。主の御名によって。アーメン。

Psalm 73:21-24
21) When my heart was grieved
and my spirit embittered,
22) I was senseless and ignorant;
I was a brute beast before you.
23) Yet I am always with you;
you hold me by my right hand.
24) You guide me with your counsel,
and afterward you will take me into glory.
Devotional
The journey of faith is a path to deepen our relationship with God. It is not about knowledge or deeds. Think of it in terms of the parent-child relationship. The relationship between parents and children is not defined by how well the children know or behave. Whether a child is smart or not, whether he/she is obedient or not, for the parents, the child is a precious, beloved child. In the same way, everyone who believes in Christ is a beloved child of God, regardless of whether we have a lot of biblical knowledge or not, whether we have good deeds or not.
Yet, we can all deepen our parent-child relationship with God the Father. What I mean by deepening relationship is becoming more aware of how much God loves us. This is a personal experience. And, the great thing is that our relationship can be deepened throughout our lives.
On the other hand, there is something we need to know. That is, we cannot discover God unless we try to spend time with Him. We cannot discover God’s love unless we personally encounter Him. This is the same with human relationships. As long as we are thinking about other things, listening, or turning our backs, it is fact that we will never be able to deepen our relationships.
When we encounter God, we first realize our own foolishness and ignorance (vv. 21, 22). Then, we realize that God is still with us (present) even though we is far from perfect and mature. We also realize that God was with us (past) even before we become aware of our shortcomings (v. 23). And, we also realize that God will continue to be with us (future) (v. 24). Our relationship with God is unconditional and eternal – past, present, and future.
This is what the author of Psalm 73 realized when he encountered God. We do daily devotions each day to become aware that God is with us today, yesterday, and tomorrow. We do devotionals not out of a sense of obligation, but out of anticipation. In our daily devotions, we will further realize the gap between our imperfection and God’s perfect love for us, and we will be just left in awe. And we will become even more dependent on God, and will experience even more of His power.
This is a Japanese old song from the 90’s by a Christian artist Lyre, called “Psalm 73:21-24.” The lyrics are identical to today’s passage. I first heard this song when I came to faith so I remember it well. A year later, I volunteered as a team leader at a local Vacation Bible School for middle & high schoolers, and the theme was also Psalm 73. I do remember that all the more because I met my wife there for the first time who also volunteered. Since then, like the author of this psalm, I am still moved each day in my daily devotional by finding that God is always with me. No matter who we are, whether we have knowledge or deeds, we are still invited today to discover in our daily devotional that God is still with us.

Prayer
Lord, you know all my pain and shortcomings. Even before I became aware of my flaws, you have been always present, loving and guiding me. Forgive my ignorance. Have mercy for my foolishness of walking alone on my own strength and thoughts, by which I ended up experiencing unnecessary pain and suffering. Be with me now, Lord. In your name, amen.
