創世記 12:1～3節
1) 主はアブラムに言われた。
「あなたは、あなたの土地、あなたの親族、あなたの父の家を離れて、わたしが示す地へ行きなさい。
2) そうすれば、わたしはあなたを大いなる国民とし、あなたを祝福し、あなたの名を大いなるものとする。あなたは祝福となりなさい。
3) わたしは、あなたを祝福する者を祝福し、あなたを呪う者をのろう。地のすべての部族は、あなたによって祝福される。」

実に、信仰の歩みは旅路です。これまで見てきたモーセやペテロもそうでした。どちらの信仰も当初はとてもリーダーとは思えないほど情けないものでした。しかし、神様はそのような不完全な者といつも歩みを共にし、少しずつ信仰の成熟に導きました。同時に、不完全な者を通して、神様のご計画を「ゆっくり」と果たしていきます。
「信仰の父」と呼ばれたアブラハムもそうでした。アブラハムは75歳のときに神様に召され、慣れ親しんだウルの街を離れて「わたしの示す地」へ行く決心をします。そこから、山あり谷ありの長い信仰の旅路が始まるのです。
神様はアブラハムに約束した祝福を、一晩では与えられませんでした。それは、アブラハム自身の祝福も、アブラハムを通して与えられるすべての人々の祝福も同じでした。そこで求められたのは、忍耐と神様への信頼でした。
私たちは時々、神様の働きがあまりに「遅い」と感じることがあります。なぜ祈りが応えられないのか。なぜすぐに自分や周りは変えられないのか。ディボーションをしても、祈っても、なかなか変わらない。ある時は、焦りやイライラ。ある時は、疲れ、失望、諦めを募らせていきます。
しかし、今ディボーションをしているこの時も、神様の祝福の壮大な計画の一部なのです。17世紀に大きな影響力を表したイギリスの詩人、ジョージ・ハーバートはこう言っています。「神様の引く臼（うす）はゆっくりだが、確かである。」私たちが「あまりに遅い」と思う中で、神様は確かに働かれているのです。
問いかけ
神様の働きが「遅い」と思われる中で、忍耐と信頼を持ち続けるとは、あなたにとってどういうことでしょうか。
祈り
神様。あなたに信頼してついて行くと決めた後も、時々、不安になる時がありました。自分の信仰の成長があまりに遅いと自分を責めたり、諦めそうになったこともありました。しかし、昨日も今日も明日も、いつもあなたは共にいて、愛してくださっています。あなたの愛を受け取り続けます。今日、忍耐と信仰を新たにしてください。主イエスの御名によって祈ります。アーメン。

Silence and Stillness before God (2 minutes)
Genesis 12:1-3
1) The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. 2) “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Devotional
Indeed, the Christian life is a journey. The same was true for Moses and Peter, whom we have seen so far. In the beginning, they seemed too immature and inappropriate to either follow God or lead others. However, God always walked with such imperfect believers and gradually led them to grow in faith. At the same time, God “slowly” fulfilled His plan for the world even through their imperfection.
This was even the case with Abraham, who was called the “father of the faith.” At the age of 75, Abraham was called by God and decided to leave the familiar city of Ur to go to “the land that I will show you.” From there, he embarks on a long and slow journey of faith with countless ups and downs.
God didn’t give Abraham or “all peoples on earth (v. 3)” the blessing He had promised him overnight. What was required was patience and trust. Sometimes we feel that God works too “slowly. Why are our prayers not answered? Why can’t we or those around us be transformed right away? We do daily devotionals and prayers, but it doesn’t seem to make any difference. At times, we are impatient and frustrated. At other times, we grow tired, disappointed, and give up.
But, even this time of daily devotional is also part of God’s grand plan of blessing. George Herbert, an influential English poet in the 17th century, put it – “God’s mill grinds slow, but sure.” While we may think God’s work is “too slow,” He is certainly at work in our life and the world.

Grant me courage, Father, to embark on the unique journey you have crafted for me. By faith, I surrender my need and desire to be in control of every event, circumstance, and person I will meet today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
